Approved by Tukwila City Council on May 18, 2026.

The Tukwila City Council adopted a revised Flock Safety contract on May 18, 2026, according to the city ALPR page, which says the rewrite was done to line up with Washington Senate Bill 6002. The same page logs a council work session on April 6, 2026 on the reader program, a council discussion of Flock on April 20, 2026, and a third party data privacy and security assessment presented on May 4, 2026 covering vendor compliance, safeguards, access management and data protection. Tukwila Police Policy 429, revised May 13, 2026, sets a default retention of 21 days, allows 6 months for commercial vehicle enforcement, and keeps records that are evidence of unlawful conduct. The policy requires annual internal audits and 2 years of audit logs recording usernames, timestamps, query details, purpose and case numbers. Sharing is allowed only as required in a judicial proceeding or under a valid court order, warrant or subpoena, and sharing with immigration agencies or commercial entities is prohibited. The city states that data is not shared with other agencies except with permission and in specific cases. A city document titled City of Tukwila Flock Safety ALPR Locations lists camera sites grouped north and south. The city page says the updated contract text was not yet posted, and no dollar amount, camera count or term length is published.
