Three councils settled Flock questions this week, and 2 more put dates on the calendar.
Choctaw, Oklahoma voted 6 to 1 on July 21 to extend its 4-camera contract for 1 year, contingent on a legal review by the city attorney. Mayor Chad Allcox moved the extension and Brent Pendergraft cast the lone no vote. The minutes record all 7 names, so the vote sits in the record with a full roll call.
Irmo, South Carolina went the other direction from most of this month’s news: the town council voted 4 to 1 on July 21 to grow from 11 cameras to 33 under a 5-year, $403,050 contract. Councilman Gabriel Penfield opposed it, pointing to an optional drone feature.
Salem, Massachusetts let its contract expire June 30 and will not renew. Mayor Dominick Pangallo said the city found insufficient protections for the plate data. City-owned readers are replacing the Flock units, with software still unchosen.
The Connecticut removals now carry fuller records. Windsor’s 16 cameras are off after a records request showed 590,000 searches of the network in 9 weeks. Killingworth is paying an exit fee, amount not yet stated, to drop its 4 cameras on Route 81.
Two dates joined the calendar: Binghamton’s council meets July 29 after its committee heard from Flock and took no vote, and Columbus holds a public hearing August 10 after an audit found more than 15,000 possible immigration-related searches. Oklahoma City’s renewal, off the July 21 agenda, still has no August date.
Updated August 4, 2026: Harrisonburg voted 4 to 0 on July 28 to end its contract; the record now carries the outcome, the removal timeline, and the council-approval requirement for any future system.
Late additions from the records desk: Springfield, Illinois renewed 9 to 0 on July 7 for 2 years at $508,000, with an amendment requiring annual data-use reports to aldermen. Dayton’s record now documents the May shutdown and bagging of all 37 cameras, and Talent, Oregon’s record now carries its unanimous December pause over sanctuary-law concerns.
A contract that lapses without a vote is covered in How to Read a Week of Flock Decisions, along with why no roll call appears until a document supports one.
