Who approved this?
No source names who approved this contract yet. Contracts that arrive through procurement or a purchasing threshold often leave no vote to record.
Police Chief Jeremy Rasch signed the joint Fond du Lac County statement on September 4, 2026 discontinuing all Flock Safety products used by the Waupun Police Department, effective immediately. Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt and Chiefs Aaron Goldstein of Fond du Lac, Bill Wallner of Ripon and Pete Vergos of North Fond du Lac signed alongside him. The departments disabled search functions and fitted lens covers so the cameras stopped capturing images. The trigger was the public release of Flock search records held by agencies in other states, including records tied to open investigations, through records requests filed in those states. The statement said the expansion of Flock technology beyond plate reading was a second reason to stop. No Waupun council vote preceded the shutdown, and no camera count or contract amount for the city appears in the coverage reviewed.
Use suspended
Camera use is suspended. The contract itself has not been reported terminated.
Not yet in the sources: the contract amount, the camera count, and the approval date. The city or county clerk holds the approval file, and the records request guide gives the wording to ask for it. If you already hold the document, send it in.
What happens next
Renewals are decided in public. Residents can attend the meeting, speak during public comment, and write to the office above through official channels. The ACLU publishes a model cancellation resolution officials can adapt.
