Waupaca County law enforcement suspended use of Flock Safety technology on September 8, 2026, and the county Law Enforcement Committee voted the same day to cut the funding starting with the next budget. WBAY reported the 2026 contract cost $34,500. In a joint statement the agencies said the problem was that law enforcement search information held by agencies in other states had been released through public records requests, not any local misconduct. They said the successes the cameras produced were real and were weighed as part of the decision. Officials said participation in a national information sharing network exposes investigative data to the records laws of every other jurisdiction on that network. They said they would watch developments in Wisconsin law and best practices before considering plate reader technology again. Suspensions in Winnebago and Fond du Lac counties the week before preceded this one. No camera count appears in the coverage reviewed.
