Police Chief Bill Wallner signed the joint Fond du Lac County statement on September 4, 2026 discontinuing all Flock Safety products used by the Ripon Police Department, effective immediately. Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt and Chiefs Aaron Goldstein of Fond du Lac, Jeremy Rasch of Waupun and Pete Vergos of North Fond du Lac signed with him. Search access was disabled and lens covers were installed on the cameras the same day. The agencies acted after Flock search records held by law enforcement in other states, including active investigation records, were released through open records requests filed in those states. Their statement said continuing the program was not appropriate given that loss of control over investigative data. No Ripon council vote preceded the shutdown, and no camera count or contract amount for the city appears in the coverage reviewed.
Use suspended
Camera use is suspended. The contract itself has not been reported terminated.
Not yet in the sources: the contract amount, the camera count, and the approval date. The city or county clerk holds the approval file, and the records request guide gives the wording to ask for it. If you already hold the document, send it in.
