Police Chief Pete Vergos signed the joint Fond du Lac County statement on September 4, 2026 discontinuing all Flock Safety products used by the North Fond du Lac Police Department, effective immediately. Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt and Chiefs Aaron Goldstein of Fond du Lac, Jeremy Rasch of Waupun and Bill Wallner of Ripon signed with him. The departments turned off search capability and installed lens covers so the cameras could not gather images. The agencies said search data from their systems, including records connected to active investigations, had been disclosed publicly by law enforcement in other states answering open records requests. They said the loss of control over that data, plus the growth of Flock technology past plate reading, ended the program for now. No village board vote preceded the shutdown, and no camera count or contract amount for the village appears in the coverage reviewed.
Use suspended
