Police Chief Aaron Olson said on September 1, 2026 that he would recommend Neenah end its Flock Safety contract while keeping automated plate reader technology from a different source. Neenah police joined the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office in suspending Flock on September 4, 2026, after search records held by law enforcement in other states were released through open records requests. The department deactivated every Flock account and login, and public works crews covered the cameras with bags. On September 8, 2026 the Public Services and Safety Committee voted unanimously to recommend termination, sending the question to the Common Council the following week. Olson told WBAY he was recommending the city simply stop funding its Flock cameras going forward, and said learning what happened in Sheboygan was the tipping point. Earlier in 2026 Olson had defended the cameras as affordable and well protected. Neither a contract amount nor a camera count for Neenah appears in the coverage reviewed.
