Kenosha is ending its Flock Safety license plate reader program. Mayor David Bogdala and Police Chief Patton announced the change in a joint statement on September 3, 2026, and the city had already given 30 day notice, placing the shutdown in October 2026. The city ran 31 Flock cameras across Kenosha, first installed in 2023. Patton cited concerns about data sharing, security, access and misuse, and said the department had been given promises about security and about what the cameras could do and who was reaching the data. The department is moving to Axon Outpost readers that Kenosha police will own and operate directly, with a 30 day retention limit. Transition work began in January 2026 after a review of newer surveillance tools. No contract amount, term length or governing body vote appears in either source, and the Public Safety and Welfare Committee agenda for this item could not be retrieved, so no roll call is recorded and this entry rests on named news coverage. The end date shown is the 30 day mark from the September 3, 2026 notice.
