Who approved this?
No source names who approved this contract. That gap is common where a purchase cleared without a council vote.
Police Chief Aaron Goldstein signed a joint county wide statement on September 4, 2026 discontinuing all Flock Safety products used by the Fond du Lac Police Department, effective immediately. The other signers were Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt and Chiefs Jeremy Rasch of Waupun, Bill Wallner of Ripon and Pete Vergos of North Fond du Lac. The agencies disabled search access and installed lens covers so the cameras could not capture images. They acted after learning that Flock search records held by law enforcement in other states, including records tied to active investigations, had been released through open records requests. The statement said the agencies could not accept the loss of control over their own investigative data. No city council vote preceded the shutdown, and no camera count or contract amount for the city appears in the coverage reviewed.
Use suspended
Camera use is suspended. The contract itself has not been reported terminated.
Not yet in the sources: the contract amount, the camera count, and the approval date. The city or county clerk holds the approval file, and the records request guide gives the wording to ask for it. If you already hold the document, send it in.
What happens next
Renewals are decided in public. Residents can attend the meeting, speak during public comment, and write to the office above through official channels. The ACLU publishes a model cancellation resolution officials can adapt.
