Suspended
Who approved this?
No source names who approved this contract. That gap is common where a purchase cleared without a council vote.
Council voted December 2, 2025 to suspend the city’s 2-year Flock pilot (15 cameras at 6 intersections, begun August 2024); cameras were hooded and deactivated the next day. The suspension is not a termination: the contract runs through July 2026 (end date shown is approximate, pending contract records) and the city sought legal review before any early termination. Interim Police Chief Shelby Parker recommended the suspension. Named roll call pending minutes. Interim Chief Shelby Parker told the council the system aided 112 arrests, including 29 stolen vehicle recoveries, and recommended the suspension anyway, saying community trust is too important to risk. City Manager Jay Burney accepted the recommendation and said the city would cover the cameras immediately and coordinate removal with Flock. The contract term ran through July 2026; the city document page lists nothing from 2026, so what happened at the deadline is pending records, checked August 4, 2026.
