WHRO and the Virginia Center for Investigative Journalism reported on August 14, 2026 that the College of William and Mary runs 10 Flock cameras on campus. Students held a referendum in March 2026 and close to 90 percent of those who voted asked for the cameras to be removed, but the college kept the system. President Katherine Rowe said the task of safeguarding a campus had become more urgent and more challenging. The Williamsburg Yorktown Daily reported on April 15, 2026 that the referendum passed with 89 percent of the vote and that more than 1,400 students took part. Neither report gives a dollar figure, a contract term or a retention period for the college system.
