Old Dominion University, VA Flock Contract

Who approved this?

No source names who approved this contract. That gap is common where a purchase cleared without a council vote.

WHRO and the Virginia Center for Investigative Journalism reported on August 14, 2026 that Flock Safety had spread to Virginia college campuses including Old Dominion University. The ODU Police Department page says the department has installed more than 2,700 cameras across campus and names Security Technology Services as the division that runs camera work, but it does not mention Flock or plate readers. The report gives no camera count, dollar figure, contract date or retention period for Old Dominion.

Renewal date pending

The contract end date has not yet been confirmed from records.

Not yet in the sources: the contract amount, the camera count, and the approval date. The city or county clerk holds the approval file, and the records request guide gives the wording to ask for it. If you already hold the document, send it in.

What happens next

Renewals are decided in public. Residents can attend the meeting, speak during public comment, and write to the office above through official channels. The ACLU publishes a model cancellation resolution officials can adapt.
