No source names who approved this contract. That gap is common where a purchase cleared without a council vote.
The Richmonder reported on September 1, 2026 that Chesterfield County pays about $225,000 a year for Flock cameras under a six year contract that began in 2023 and runs through June 2029. That report counted 88 fixed cameras. VPM reported the same $225,000 annual figure on April 1, 2026 but counted 141 automated license plate readers, so the device total is not settled between the two sources. VPM also listed $60,000 for camera maintenance in the proposed fiscal 2027 budget and more than $260,000 for three new intelligence officer positions. Police told The Richmonder the cameras were tied to roughly 300 arrests and 57 stolen vehicle recoveries between January 1 and August 3, 2026. Neither source gives a Board of Supervisors approval date or a vote tally. The exact June 2029 end day is not stated in either report.
