Bland County Sheriff Jason Ramsey stopped using the county's 3 Flock cameras on July 11, 2026 and confirmed the decision publicly on September 1, 2026. Ramsey said he felt the low recovery rate of stolen vehicles and the changing constitutional questions meant the cameras were not beneficial for Bland County. Over the life of the program the 3 cameras helped recover 1 stolen vehicle and helped locate 1 missing elderly person. The cameras were paid for with a HEAT grant from the Virginia State Police rather than out of county funds. A work order has been placed with Flock to take the cameras down, and Ramsey said there is no pending contract. He added that any other Flock cameras still in the county are not operated by his office, which leaves their ownership unaccounted for in the public record.
