KPCW reported on August 20, 2026 that the Heber City Police Department switched to Flock Safety cameras in 2024 because they cost less than other vendors, after more than 15 years of using plate reader technology. The report says 8 cameras operate in the city. Police Chief Parker Sever told the Heber City Council on August 18, 2026 that the system had helped solve hit and run crashes and locate missing persons. He said the data belongs to Heber City, is never sold to a third party and is shared only when he grants access. Councilmember Yvonne Barney asked the city to post more information and suggested a community discussion with Flock representatives. The report does not give a cost, a contract term or a council vote.
