The North Texas Daily reported on August 29, 2026, citing an email from the university, that university police control 15 university-owned Flock cameras. The paper says the university installed its Flock cameras on the Denton campus, with 2 on the Frisco campus, in January 2023 to assist police investigations. The university told the paper the cameras do not connect to any database that can detect and identify people and that the university police department controls access to the data under strict auditing procedures. The report does not say whether the 2 Frisco cameras are counted in the 15, and it gives no cost, contract term, funding source or approval record.
