The Robinson City Council voted unanimously to discontinue the city's Flock Safety contract instead of renewing it. KXXV and KLAQ both reported the result on September 2, 2026 and described the vote as taken Tuesday evening; September 1, 2026 was the Tuesday of that week, so September 1 is given as the meeting date and September 2 is the publication date. Robinson obtained the hardware in August 2025 through a state grant from the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority and ran the system as a one year trial. KWTX reported on August 28, 2026 that the city leased 11 cameras, with 2 more on Highway 77 operated by the Texas Department of Public Safety. Mayor Greg May said before the vote that he would oppose renewal because tracking people who have done nothing wrong crosses a line. Council members pointed to resident feedback and to Governor Greg Abbott freezing the state money behind the cameras. One council member said a survey of more than 200 residents still showed majority support for keeping them. No source gives the contract amount, the renewal price, or any retention, audit or sharing condition. This is Robinson in McLennan County, Texas.
