The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office owns and operates a Flock Safety license plate camera system in The Woodlands that The Woodlands Township approved as part of its fiscal year 2026 budget process. Click2Houston reported on December 12, 2025 that the township was funding 30 new Flock cameras in high-traffic areas through a partnership with the sheriff's office, with installation expected by summer. The same report said a separate state grant was adding another 30 cameras elsewhere in Montgomery County. On May 28, 2026 the township board unanimously accepted a sheriff's office report on the system, and the township's June 2, 2026 account of that meeting says the township does not operate the cameras, access their data or hold any agreement with Flock Safety. That account still describes a planned deployment of 30 cameras, while Community Impact quoted a Flock Safety manager on May 29, 2026 saying Flock cameras had been in Montgomery County since February. No document found states a contract amount, a contract term, a Commissioners Court vote, the vote on the township budget or the name of the state grant.
