Manor Police Department ended its relationship with Flock Safety on September 3, 2026, CBS Austin reported the same day. The department said it sees benefits in license plate readers for solving crime but values the trust of its community more. Hoodline reported on September 4, 2026 that Manor ran about 10 Flock cameras and that 2 were already out of service after vandalism; the count shown is 10. Hoodline reported that the cameras had helped locate three teenagers accused of a shooting spree in May 2026, and that the department still judged the technology too politically and legally difficult to keep running. The decision followed the order by Governor Greg Abbott in late August 2026 halting state money for Flock cameras, and followed the finding in Pflugerville that agencies without authorization had reached its license plate reader data. Neither report gives a contract value, a term length, a retention period, a funding source or a city council vote, and no council action is documented.
