Suspended

No source names who approved this contract yet. The city clerk holds the approval file.
Lufkin Police Chief Travis Brazil suspended department use of Flock Safety cameras in August 2026 while two investigations ran. KLTV reported on August 20, 2026 that one officer was arrested and a second was placed on leave in the misuse inquiry. KBTX reported on August 27, 2026 that the officer was accused of running an ex girlfriend license plate more than 10,000 times. The Lufkin Daily News reported on August 30, 2026 that the officer faced 100 counts of misusing official information involving 11 people over more than a year, and that Governor Greg Abbott cited the Lufkin case when he barred state agencies from spending money on Flock cameras. The suspension came from the chief rather than a council vote, so no roll call is recorded. No contract, order form, council item, camera count, dollar figure, contract term or retention period for the Lufkin system was located, and the Texas Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority FY2026 award table lists no Lufkin grant.
