No source names who approved this contract. That gap is common where a purchase cleared without a council vote.

Hood County Commissioners Court authorized covering the county's Flock cameras at its August 11, 2026 meeting, and the county terminated its agreement with Flock Safety. Three automated license plate readers were covered and unplugged. Constable John D. Shirley oversaw the shutdown and said permanent warrantless tracking of people going about their day does not belong in a free society. County officials asked Flock for a $126,000 refund for taxpayers and rejected Flock's offer of a credit instead. The Texas Tribune reported on August 28, 2026 that Hood County had received Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority grant money for Flock cameras before ending the contract, and that the program draws on a $1 annual auto insurance fee created in 2023. The Tribune put the statewide total at more than $30 million in MVCPA grant money spent on Flock cameras. Neither source gives the original contract amount, the Hood County grant award, or the date the county first signed.
