KBTX reported on September 21, 2026 that the Brazos County Sheriff's Office signed its Flock Safety contract in October 2025 and installed 10 cameras across the county starting in May 2026. The contract is not up for renewal until 2027. The office holds images and data for 30 days unless there is a law enforcement reason to keep them for an investigation. About 20 employees are authorized to search the system, and the office logged 30 searches in the 30 days before the report. The cameras capture still images of plates and vehicle characteristics at fixed locations. The report gives no dollar figure, no funding line and no commissioners court vote.
