Who approved this?
No source names who approved this contract. That gap is common where a purchase cleared without a council vote.
The Bastrop City Council voted unanimously on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 for a resolution ending the city's contract with Flock Safety. On a motion by Council Member Cynthia Meyer, the council also barred the city from entering, renewing or replacing contracts for automated license plate recognition or any vehicle-surveillance system that collects or shares vehicle-location data. A week earlier the council had voted unanimously to cover the cameras, and the remaining 6 were covered by September 2. Police Chief Vicky Steffanic said the department had seen no misuse or misconduct involving Flock, while residents kept raising privacy concerns. No document found states when Bastrop first approved Flock, the contract amount, the total camera count, the term or the funding. The coverage gives no separate tally for the motion on future contracts.
