Alvin Independent School District, which enrolls about 30,000 students south of Houston, has spent more than 50,000 dollars on Flock Safety devices since 2023 and runs 8 Flock cameras, according to records The 74 obtained from the district. Over one month spanning December 2025 and January 2026 the district's cameras were searched more than 733,000 times, and 620 of those searches were logged as immigration related by 30 agencies. The 74 named Michael Putnal as the district police chief and said district spokesperson Renae Rives supplied public records but did not answer requests for comment. The district's own site confirms the force is the Alvin ISD Police Department, which the Texas Law Enforcement Recognition Program recognized on August 6, 2020. No board vote, contract term or exact contract amount is documented.
