The Sullivan County Board of Commissioners adopted Resolution 2026-08-10 at its regular session on August 20, 2026. As amended, the resolution states that Sullivan County intends not to renew its contract for technology supporting the use of visual surveillance devices in Sullivan County, known as Flock cameras. The minutes record the roll call as 18 in favor, 1 against, 2 abstaining and 3 absent. Commissioner Joe Carr pushed the measure and is recorded voting for it. The Tennessee Lookout reported on September 8, 2026 that the contract runs until January 2027. The July 16, 2026 regular session minutes contain no Flock or license plate reader item, and none of the 2026 minutes reviewed record the vote that first approved the contract, so no roll call is given. The August 20 vote was a decision not to renew rather than an approval.
This contract expires January 31, 2027
109 days until the community decides.
Not yet in the sources: the contract amount, the camera count, and the approval date. Sullivan County Board of Commissioners holds the approval file, and the records request guide gives the wording to ask for it. If you already hold the document, send it in.
