Item 7 under new business on the September 8, 2026 commission agenda was titled Withdraw Contract with Flock Safety and was placed before the board as a request for direction rather than a drafted resolution. The management summary in that packet records that the police chief and city manager both recommended pulling out, citing privacy concerns, data security risk and public sentiment expressed by residents. The same document states the system had already been switched off pending a decision from the commission. The commission then voted unanimously to end the contract. Vice Mayor Tonya Sadler asked for the item to be placed on the agenda and pressed for a firm deadline so the vendor could not slow down collection of its equipment. The packet does not list a contract amount, a camera count or a term, and no original approval date is documented in it.
