The Sullivan's Island Police Department states on the town website that it uses Flock Safety automated license plate reader technology, and it links a statement from Police Chief Glenn Meadows, a reader policy and a public FAQ. WCIV reported the town operates 4 license plate readers plus 3 Condor cameras and has spent more than 26,000 dollars, replacing aging readers in 2026. The town FAQ says data is kept for 30 days at present and that the department intends to adopt the Flock recommendation of 7 days. The same FAQ states that every search is permanently logged and cannot be deleted or altered. Signed Town Council minutes for 2025 and 2026 are posted as image only scans with no machine readable text, so no motion, tally or roll call could be read from them. No approving body or approval date is given.
