The North Kingstown Town Council voted 3 to 2 on August 19, 2026 to terminate the town contract with Flock Safety, and 6 cameras were taken down from town roads. Councilman Matt McCoy voted to end the agreement and later discussed the decision on a local television program. Police Chief John Urban was on vacation for the vote and, according to the Independent, would likely have argued to keep the system. Councilman Greg Mancini said the contract began in 2023, took effect in 2025 and renewed automatically in early 2026, a renewal town officials had overlooked. Earlier Independent reporting put the department deployment at 13 cameras across town, which conflicts with the 6 removed after the vote, so no camera count is given and both figures are named. North Kingstown was the last South County municipality to drop the system, following South Kingstown on July 27, 2026 and Narragansett in early August 2026. No contract amount appears in the coverage reviewed.
