Franklin County commissioners voted unanimously on August 26, 2026 not to renew the county's Flock Safety contract, which Tri-State Alert reported would run out about 30 days later. The board is Chairman Dean Horst, Vice Chair John Flannery and Secretary Robert Ziobrowski, all serving terms through 2027. At the August 19, 2026 meeting the commissioners heard residents and officials for and against the cameras, including Sheriff Ben Sites in support and District Attorney Ian Brink on the legal questions. Tri-State Alert reported the contract cost about $4,500 and came out of the sheriff's budget, which the commissioners approve. The county had already cut data retention from 30 days to 7 days. The published reports give no camera count, no contract start date and no exact expiration date.
