Abington Township police let one Flock Safety contract lapse in August 2026 and are ending the second, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported on August 19, 2026. The expired agreement cost $9,225 per year for 2 years. The remaining agreement costs $10,500 a year on a 3 year term that runs to February 2028. The department has kept one permanent Flock camera in the township plus a few cameras held at the station and deployed as needed. Thousands of Abington's Flock searches turned up in public data dumps, and the department audits officer search logs only as needed, with no set schedule. Fox 29 reported on August 27, 2026 that the Board of Commissioners voted to replace the Flock cameras with 2 Axon cameras in high crime areas, and that officials were looking for a way out of the Flock deal before 2028. Neither report gives a vote tally, a funding source or the names of the commissioners who voted.
