Wyandot County Sheriff Todd Frey announced on August 19, 2026 that his office had begun removing its 16 Flock Safety cameras, WTVG in Toledo reported the same day. Frey said he had spoken with many residents over several weeks and listened to their opinions and concerns about the technology. WKTN radio reported on August 19, 2026 that Frey originally authorized the cameras for criminal investigations and for search and rescue in cases involving Alzheimer disease, dementia, runaways and missing children. Frey said his office solved a range of cases before the cameras arrived and would keep doing so without them. The cameras had been in place about one year at the time of removal. The Ohio Newsroom listed Wyandot County on September 2, 2026 among counties that ended Flock agreements. No contract value, term length, funding source, retention period or county commissioners vote is documented in any of the three reports. The county seat is Upper Sandusky.
