Willowick, OH Flock Contract

Who approved this?

No source names who approved this contract. That gap is common where a purchase cleared without a council vote.

The News-Herald reported on October 29, 2022 that 3 Flock Safety license plate recognition cameras were installed in Willowick that month and went live on October 6, 2022. Police Chief Brian Turner said the cameras are used to detect stolen vehicles and warrants, send alerts to dispatch and to officers' phones, and are not used for traffic enforcement. The packet for the November 21, 2023 Willowick City Council meeting lists a motion authorizing the Mayor to contract with Flock Safety for 37,500 dollars as a 5-year subscription renewal. The Flock order form in that packet, made out to the Willowick Police Department, covers 3 Falcon cameras at 7,500 dollars a year for 60 months and is unsigned. The packet does not show whether the council passed the motion, and no minutes or news report confirming that vote were found.
