Canceled
Who approved this?
Approved by Pierce Township Board of Trustees.
Pierce Township trustees in Clermont County voted unanimously in August 2026 to end the township agreement with Flock Safety, Local 12 reported on September 1, 2026. The township ran 10 cameras at a cost of 30,000 dollars a year, and the agreement was cut about one month before its scheduled end. Police Chief Paul Broxterman defended the technology but asked for the early exit, pointing to what he described as a negative public view of the cameras and to two incidents in which cameras were vandalized. Trustee Allen Freeman said the country is moving further and further into a surveillance state. Hoodline reported the same camera count and the same annual cost on September 2, 2026. The Ohio Newsroom reported on September 2, 2026 that the township was removing the cameras and cited vandalism and replacement costs. No exact meeting date, roll call by name, funding source, retention period or reporting condition is documented in the three reports.
