The Newark Advocate reported that initial funding for Newark's Flock system came from a state grant of $128,400 to the police department. Flock Safety recommended 26 cameras for Newark, priced at $2,850 each for the first year and $2,500 per camera after that. A Newark City Council committee voted 5 to 0 to allow the city to enter a two year contract with Flock Safety, with the resolution set for two readings before a full council vote. The sources reviewed here confirm the city as Newark, Ohio, in Licking County reporting that also covers Heath and Hebron, but they do not record the final full council vote, its date, or how each member voted. Law Director Tricia Moore told the council that the city is the sole owner of the data collected and that it is erased after 30 days unless the city wants to save it. Nearby Heath began installing 10 cameras mostly around its perimeter, and Hebron approved cameras at each end of the village on Main and High streets.
