Who approved this?
Approved by Miami County Board of Commissioners.
News Center 7 reported that Miami County commissioners voted on March 16 to approve a two year rental of 8 Flock Safety pole cameras for $42,800 for the sheriff's office. That report carries no year on the March 16 vote, so no approval date is given. Sheriff Dave Duchak said the cameras help solve crimes and locate missing children on Amber alerts and missing seniors, and said deployment would follow within two months. The Tippecanoe Gazette reported on April 23, 2025 that the sheriff's office had 12 cameras in Miami County and no plans to add more. That 12 camera figure is a later countywide total and does not match the 8 cameras in the rental item. Neither report names a funding source or a commissioner vote tally.
