Canceled
Who approved this?
Approved 1-1 by Village Board of Trustees on April 8, 2025.
The village canceled in August 2025 after a federal grant fell through, before any cameras went up. At the Village Board meeting of April 8, 2025 the board voted 6 to 1 to retain Flock Safety to provide the Scarsdale Police Department with public safety video cameras and license plate reader cameras and all corresponding hardware, software, training and services for a total of $141,000.00 annually with an initial term of seven years. A separate line in the same resolution covers first responder drones at $116,142.86 annually; only the camera figure is shown here. Trustee Jeremy Gans cast the sole no vote, citing concerns about privacy and the sharing of personal data. Mayor Justin Arest said a federal grant would pay for it. The same outlet reported on June 27, 2025 that the mayor announced the installation would be postponed after the funding application through Senator Gillibrand's office was not successful.
