Buffalo State University Police operate 12 Flock Safety cameras around the campus. The Record reported that the Campus Safety, Security and Risk Assessment Committee, together with the president then in office, authorized the system in spring 2023. The first 10 cameras went up between August and September 2023, and 2 more were added near Karner Hall in late summer 2025 when the police department moved there. The university renewed a two year contract in summer 2026. Interim Chief of Police Steve Cahoon said safeguards have been written into the policy from the start. Buffalo State publishes no web page describing the system, unlike the University at Buffalo and Binghamton University.
