No source names who approved this contract yet. Contracts that arrive through procurement or a purchasing threshold often leave no vote to record.
The Edgewood Police Department operates an automated license plate reader system supplied by Flock Safety, which the town states on its own police department page. Police Chief Aaron Frost writes that the system captures plate images and limited vehicle traits such as color and type, does not use facial recognition, does not track individuals, and is not used for traffic enforcement or citations. He says use is governed by New Mexico law including privacy limits in proposed Senate Bill 40, and that the department is still finalizing a formal written policy. The Town Commission packet for the January 13, 2026 regular meeting carries the December 23, 2025 minutes, in which the chief told commissioners the cameras were not speed cameras but crime fighting tools aimed at stolen vehicles and Amber Alerts. Neither town document gives a camera count, a dollar figure, a term length or a commission vote approving the purchase.
Renewal date pending
The contract end date has not yet been confirmed from records.
Not yet in the sources: the contract amount, the camera count, and the approval date. The city or county clerk holds the approval file, and the records request guide gives the wording to ask for it. If you already hold the document, send it in.
What happens next
Renewals are decided in public. Residents can attend the meeting, speak during public comment, and write to the office above through official channels. The ACLU publishes a model cancellation resolution officials can adapt.
