The Ord City Council voted 5-0 to begin removing the city's Flock license plate readers, in what 1011 Now reported on August 4, 2026 as the first such vote in Nebraska. Ord has two Flock cameras. The equipment was bought with a $49,000 grant that the Region 26 911 Center and Emergency Management Agency received from the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency in August 2025, funded by the Department of Homeland Security and intended to buy up to 14 cameras across the region. Valley County Board Chairman Jack VanSlyke said the cameras belong to the county rather than the city, so the county board had to take up the next step. Mayor Jeramy Sedlacek said he does not like a third party running the data and that the city cannot tell where the data goes. Region 26 Director Catie Larsen is named in the coverage. The cameras were still operating on August 4, 2026 despite the removal vote. Neither source gives a contract amount for Ord.
