Canceled
Who approved this?
Approved by Monroe County Board of Commissioners.
Commissioners approved a $16,500 agreement in September 2021 for 6 cameras at high-traffic locations, on 2-year terms that renewed automatically and would have run through September 2027. On July 23, 2026, commissioners voted 2-0 to terminate: Julie Thomas moved, Jody Madeira seconded, and Lee Jones was absent. The county accepted a removal charge of up to $500 per camera, $3,000 in total. Sheriff Ruben Marté conferred with Thomas and agreed with ending the contract, per his office. Every path on the county's own host, www.co.monroe.in.us, fails automated reading because its certificate does not verify, and its homepage strips link targets, so the Agendas and Minutes section could not be opened. Nine alternate hosts were tested and none serves Monroe County, Indiana records. This is an access failure rather than a finding of absence: nothing was read either way about a county commissioners or county council action.
