Sheriff Stacy Ball announced on August 20, 2026 that the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office would not renew its Flock Safety contract and would discontinue the cameras. KRCG reported the shutdown is set for the first week of October 2026 and that 7 Flock devices are involved, including license plate readers in Dixon, Crocker and Richland. Ball said residents raised concerns about privacy, government surveillance, who controlled the collected data, and possible misuse of the system by officers, and that those concerns outweighed the investigative benefit. He said the office will not replace the cameras with Axon equipment. Ball said losing the tool will hurt but that the office did good police work before Flock and will keep doing it afterward. The sources do not give the contract amount, the term length, the original approval date, the approving body, or any county commission vote, and they record no retention or audit condition. The end date shown is the first week of October 2026 that KRCG reported.
