St. Louis Public Radio reported on September 14, 2026 that Hazelwood's contract with Flock Safety began in 2023 and that the police department has access to 10 Flock cameras budgeted for the city, plus 2 owned by homeowners associations and 1 owned by a private business. The city has used automated license plate readers since 2011. Lt. Shane Parrish said the cameras help with illegal dumping, vehicle theft, missing person cases and homicides, and that the department audits users monthly.
