The KIND drug enforcement team's executive board authorized the camera purchase using KIND forfeiture monies, and 4 Flock Falcon license plate readers ran in Dickinson County for about six months. Residents objected at the county board meeting reported on July 15, 2026, including Pam Trask of Breitung Township, who called the system a slippery slope to a police state, and Eric Wysocki of Kingsford, who compared it to electronic stalking. Sheriff Aaron Rochon said on August 10, 2026 that the board had decided to end the contract immediately and discontinue the program under the current agreement. The Daily News put typical Flock pricing at $2,500 to $3,000 per camera per year plus a one time install fee of $250 to $350 per camera, and did not report the exact sum Dickinson paid. The board said it would weigh effectiveness, investigative value and other issues before seeking municipal money. The KIND board includes Sheriff Rochon, Prosecuting Attorney Abbey Anderson and the police chiefs of Kingsford, Iron Mountain and Norway.
