No source names who approved this contract yet. Contracts that arrive through procurement or a purchasing threshold often leave no vote to record.
Quincy police have run Flock automated plate readers since 2020, and South Shore News reported the deployment was paid for with federal homeland security grants. Sources disagree on the size of the system. South Shore News put the count near 50 cameras, while Government Technology reported 8 and placed Quincy's annual cost in a 5,500 to 29,500 dollar band. No camera count is given because the 2 figures cannot be reconciled from the published documents. The Boston Globe reported that in June 2026 the department cut Flock access to about 50 of roughly 240 officers, required a case number for each search, limited searches to within city borders and put searches under audit. On September 4, 2026 The Quincy Sun reported that Councillors Ziqiang Susan Yuan, Deborah Riley and Anne Mahoney filed an order for a public hearing and information forum on the city's use of Flock, asking the police chief to present the technology, the policies, who may access the data, retention and deletion rules and the oversight safeguards. The order was set for the September 8, 2026 council meeting. No contract amount, term length or expiration date appears in any of the sources.
