Littleton town officials voted in May 2026 to shut down six Flock Safety cameras placed on town public ways after residents objected to them. In late July 2026 police found during a system check that five of those cameras had been switched back on by Flock without notice to the town, which the company attributed to restoring power under a standard protocol because it was unaware Littleton did not intend to resume use. On July 30, 2026 the Select Board directed Town Counsel to begin canceling the contract, instructed the Department of Public Works to remove all six cameras, and asked Littleton Electric Light and Water Departments to disconnect power. Select Board Chairman Gary Wilson led that action. Town Administrator James Duggan told the Boston Globe on August 6, 2026 that the town had not canceled its contract and was still reviewing the technology, so the two sources disagree on whether termination had been completed. Police Chief Douglas Landry ran the check that found the reactivation. Neither source gives a vote tally for the May shutdown or the July 30 direction, and neither states the contract amount, the term, the original approval date, or any retention, audit or reporting condition. This is Littleton in Middlesex County, Massachusetts.
