Government Technology reported that Holyoke police run 3 Flock Falcon cameras, at Sargent and Walnut Streets, at South and Main Streets, and at Cabot and South Canal Streets. On September 2, 2026 the Holyoke City Council sent an order to its Public Safety Committee calling for a review of how the cameras were authorized, what the contract says, how data is shared, what safeguards exist and whether the program complies with Massachusetts law. The Reminder named Councilors Anne Thalheimer, who chairs Public Safety, Council President Tessa Murphy-Romboletti and Councilor Mimi Panitch as sponsors, with other councilors asking to be added. The article did not report a vote tally on the order. WWLP reported the same review, framed around privacy concerns. The Public Safety Committee was scheduled to take it up on September 21, 2026. The Shoestring reported that Holyoke plate reader data was included in more than 3.5 million searches between January and June 2026, and that Holyoke searches included shoplifting investigations at the Holyoke Mall. No contract amount, term length, funding source or retention period has been made public.
