Police Chief Todd Dodge announced on January 22, 2026 that Greenfield will remove all four of its Flock cameras, and Mayor Ginny Desorgher backed the decision. The cameras sit on Deerfield Street near the Cheapside Bridge, on Route 5 near Denny's Pantry, at Solon and Elm streets, and on the French King Highway, and cost the city about $12,000 a year. Two were scheduled for removal in May 2026 and two in October 2026. Chief Dodge gave money as the reason, saying the entire city is under financial hardship, and said the cameras were going to come out this year anyway without grant funding. He said the cameras do not use facial recognition, that the department set data sharing to request only, and that it has not supplied and would not supply information to agencies such as ICE. Two cameras had been in place about three years and two about two years. At the Public Safety Commission meeting on January 29, 2026, Vice Chair David Moscaritolo and member Gary Braff said the commission was not consulted before the removal was announced.
