Cohasset police run 4 Flock Safety cameras, installed starting in 2024 on Route 3A, at Beechwood and Doane Street, and at Nichols Road and Atlantic Avenue. South Shore News reported on August 31, 2026 that the town pays about $12,000 a year, roughly $6,000 per pair of cameras, on a 2 year term that renews automatically. On August 25, 2026 the Select Board voted unanimously to instruct staff to send a termination notice before the September 27, 2026 renewal deadline. Chair David Farrag, Ellen Maher, Gregory Watts and William Ashton all backed that instruction. The South Shore Times reported on July 26, 2026 that Chief William Quigley drew Select Board pushback in January 2025 over a town wide camera funding request. Neither source names the body that first approved the contract, its start date, or the funding source, and only South Shore News states the $12,000 figure, so the amount rests on a single report.
