No source names who approved this contract. That gap is common where a purchase cleared without a council vote.
Bowling Green police ran 10 Flock license plate readers as of September 2026, with 9 in fixed positions and 1 portable unit, according to WKYU. The Bowling Green Daily News reported on September 6, 2026 that the department had requested 10 more. Images are deleted after 30 days, and officers must log a case number, an offense type and a reason for each individual search. Public information officer Ronnie Ward said the department runs quarterly audits of those searches. WKYU also reported that the department does not keep a record of which outside agencies use its data, and that it will not share login credentials with immigration agents. WBKO reported in July 2026 that the program began operating in January 2026, while WKYU and the Daily News placed installation in 2025, and both accounts are named here rather than reconciled. No contract amount, term length, funding source or city commission approval date is documented in any of these sources.
