KAKE reported on August 12, 2026 that Haysville has 8 Flock cameras that read license plates, in place since 2022, and that the system costs the city about 20,000 dollars a year, or around 2,500 dollars per camera. At a Monday night city council meeting covered in the report, Councilmember Eric Myers moved to put the future of the cameras on a ballot for a public vote. That motion failed 2 to 4, with 2 council members absent, and the cameras remain in use. Haysville police and a Flock representative said the system could not recognize faces and was not used to automatically issue traffic tickets. The report does not give the original approval date, the contract term or a funding source.
